IT IS OK TO LAUGH

Published by cathycouey under Religion Edit This

Verse of the Day

Psalm 98:4 (NKJV)  Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth;Break forth in song, rejoice, and sing praises.

Religious
He always listens to his conscience — that still small inner voice that warns him when somebody’s watching.

Today we are going to have some fun.  I know I am too serious in here most of the time so Thursdays are just for fun (well sorta). Continue Reading »

APPLYING GODS LOVE AND UNDERSTANDING TO EVERYDAY LIFE

Published by cathycouey under Bible Studies Edit This

VERSE OF THE DAY

1 John 4:19 (NKJV)

19 We love Him because He first loved us.

In Psalm 139 on Monday we learned how much God  knows us and loves us.  It would stand to reason that if God loves us so very much that we should be more than willing to love Him in return.  Our human mind tells us this is natural to love someone who loves you.  While this appears logical it does not work that way all too often.

In school I was quite popular.  I really was.  This was not a good popular.  Continue Reading »

GOD KNOWS ME BETTER THAN I KNOW MYSELF

Published by cathycouey under Bible Studies Edit This

MEMORY VERSE FOR 12/07/08 -12/13/08

PSALM 139:14  I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.

God knows us better than we could ever know ourselves.  He loves us and created us even knowing everything that we would ever do. This is the subject of our study this week.  We will begin with one of the greatest Psalms ever written.  We simply must begin this new format with a new understanding of God’s intense love for us and His intense understanding of us.  How can we ever learn to trust someone that we do not know.  Continue Reading »

GOD’S CHILD REVIEW

Published by cathycouey under Religion Edit This

VERSE OF THE DAY

Titus 3:5 (NIV)  he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit,

So as promised we will do a review of the week so far.  First I just need to make an anouncement.

Today I am 4 years old in the Lord Jesus Christ.  I am also celebrating 3 years clean and sober thanks to my Lord and His awesome deliverance from my addiction to “crack”.  Yes they happened exactly one year apart.  Not by any doing of mine but simply by His mercies and love.  That would be the reason for our verse of the day. PLAN OF SALVATION

What Is God’s Plan Of Salvation?

God loves you just as you are without you doing a single thing.  We as humans long for God.  God has placed a desire to live forever within the heart of every person.

Most people think that one must be Holy in order for God to love them.  That simply is not true.  It is true that we feel the separation from God and the longing for Him.  It is like some major part of you is missing and we will begin searching for that missing part.  Until we find God, and accept His plan of salvation and His plan for our life, we will continue to experience the longing.

The “Good News” or “Gospel” tells of God’s love for each and every person on the face of the earth through out all time.

John 3:16
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”

The world here means every one.

Romans 5:8 tells us that God loved us so much that: “when we were in our sin Christ Jesus came to die for us.”

Romans 3:23
“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,”

This verse tells us that every person has sinned at sometime and fallen short of God’s intended purpose for us. God made us to know Him…. to receive His love and to love Him in return.

We can choose to accept God’s love for us or we can choose to continue down our path to destruction.  God loved us first and hopes that we will return that love but He will never force us.

Romans 6:23
“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Wages are something that is earned in reward for what you have done.  We have earned the reward of eternal death by the sins that we have performed.

A gift is something that is not and can not be earned.  A gift is given from the heart of the giver to an unsuspecting, undeserving, and willing recipient.  God’s  gift to us was His only Son as our only means to Salvation.  we can not earn this gift.  Our only requirement is to accept the gift that God offers us.

How can God remain true to His holiness and forgive unholy sinners? Because Jesus, His Son, has paid the price for sin by His death on the cross.

II Corinthians 5:21 says, “He who knew no sin became sin for us, that we may be made the righteousness of God through Him.”

Jesus arose from the grave to conquer sin and death for all who receive Him as God’s free gift.

How can you receive God’s free gift of love and life?

Romans 10:9-10
“that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.”

A person receives God’s free gift of love and life by placing faith in Jesus Christ.  To believe is simply to take God at His Word.  With our whole heart we believe that Jesus is God’s Son who died for our sin on the cross and arose from the grave to live in us as Savior and Lord.

To believe in Jesus will result in confessing that faith with one’s mouth.

Do you acknowledge that your are a sinner?

Do you believe by faith that Jesus, God’s Son, died for your sin on the cross?

Will you now confess Him as your Savior and Lord?

Romans 10:13
“for Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

This verse says that any person who will call upon the name of Jesus, the Lord, shall be saved.

To call means simply to ask in prayer. The verse does not require one to know more… do better… clean up one’s life… or in any way try to add to what Jesus has done for us.

Will you now call upon Jesus to save you from your sin so that you can know God’s love and forgiveness?

Pray like this: “Dear God, I confess that I am a sinner, and I am sorry. I need a Savior. I know I cannot save myself. I believe by faith that Jesus, your Son, died on the cross to be my Savior. I believe He arose from the grave to live as my Lord. I turn from my sin. I ask You, Lord Jesus, to forgive my sin and come into my heart. I trust you as my Savior and receive you as my Lord. Thank you, Jesus, for saving me.”

When anyone calls on the Lord in this manner, that one is saved according to God’s Word. If you pray a prayer of repentance and faith, you are saved. You have God’s word on it.

If you have prayed this prayer to receive Christ as your Lord and Savoir, why not record your decision to follow Jesus as follows. Often times, a good place to write this would be inside the cover of your bible:

Believing by faith that God loves me and sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for my sin and arise from the grave to live in me, I, _______, do this day, ________, repent of my sin and accept Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior. According to the promise of God in Romans 10:13, I have called upon His name and have His word for the assurance of my salvation.

TESTIMONY TEUSDAY

Published by cathycouey under Bible Studies Edit This

I thought it would be great fun if you the reader could have a way of participating.  I had a little trouble coming up with ideas and then god stepped in and suggested this one.

TESTIMONY TUESDAY

This is where you guys send me your tesimony of how you came to know the Lord and on Tuesdays I will publish  one tesimony.  these are to encourage others who are just dropping through and may need some extra encouragement.

Simply write out your testimony or praise report and e-mail it to me.  On Tuesdays I will post at least one per week.

e-mail me: cathyisgodschild@live.com

subject: My Testimony to God

Now for my special testimony this week.

Many of you know I have been out of work for almost 3 months now with no income.  At this moment I can not afford a gallon of gas ($1.56).  saturday my friend called and asked if I would like to go with him and the church to eat at Lambert’s and then to the Stained Glass Theater.   For those of you who are not from around here that is a very big deal.  Lambert’s is known as the “Home of the Thrown Rolls”.  If you want one of their famous rolls you just hollar and they throw you one.  If any one leaves hungry from that place it is their own fault.  The theater is also a special treat although I did not know it at the time.

This was all last minute and it appeared that the buses we were taking were too full to accomadate me.  As God would have it there was enough room at the very last minute.  I had 30 minutes to shower and drive 15 miles.  Hey, what can I say.

So we get to the theater and as I said it was truly amazing.  I think I was expecting to go in and veiw a bunch of stained glass.  Don’t laugh at me.  I am street smart and not smart about other things.  It is not like this place is in my back yard so I had never heard of it.  I live close to Kansas City and this was down by Branson.  We get there and I find out it is a Christian play.  The play was  set in the country outside of Helena, Montana at Christmas time.  the last time I went to a play was when my daughter was in high school and before that it was when I was in high school and I was in it.  These actors and actresses were great and they were all volunteers.  Yes I am easily amused and entertained.  this was facinating to me.  The moral was to give god your problems and what better time to do that than at Christmas.  It is the best gift you can give Him.

What a blessing that my friend would think of something like that.
