Our Father in Heaven,

I praise You for Your greatness and for the many things You do for me each day.  I ask that You forgive me for my sins and reveal to me the sins I do not see yet.  As our country steps into a new Presidency, I ask that You would guide our new President in Your paths and that he would do your will both in his life and for this nation.  Allow him to be filled with Your Spirit as he steps into office.  Protect him and his family with Your protection.  Keep them under Your wings.  He will be faced with many difficulties and trials and I pray that Your hand would rest powerfully upon his life and that the world would once again see that we are “one nation under God”.  I know that all things work together for them that love You and that this is Your will for us at this time and I thank You for it.

I feel an overwhelming desire to Praise the Lord today.  With all that is going on we, as Christians, need to remember to Praise the Lord today and every day.  Although president elect Obama was not my personal choice I will practice what I wrote on Sunday and give him honor and respect because he would not be in office had not God so ordained.  Also, whether we agree or disagree, we are duty bound by God to pray for him and this country.  Nothing is immune to the power of prayer.  I just have a couple of scriptures to leave you with.

Psalm 150

1 Praise the LORD.
Praise God in his sanctuary;
praise him in his mighty heavens.

2 Praise him for his acts of power;
praise him for his surpassing greatness.

3 Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet,
praise him with the harp and lyre,

4 praise him with tambourine and dancing,
praise him with the strings and flute,

5 praise him with the clash of cymbals,
praise him with resounding cymbals.

6 Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.
Praise the LORD.

President Elect Obama, I for one will be praying for God to guide you in all you do.  May the Lord be with you and our country as you begin your duties today.

PRAY ON ONE ACCORD TODAY

Published by cathycouey under Prayer Edit This

The Lord has been calling us to pray for our nation and ministers this week.  Have you been praying?  Why does God have to tell us to pray?  I mean as a Christian don’t we automatically pray?   Isn’t that what Christian means?  To be “Christ like” or “like Christ” and He prayed all the time so Christians must be praying right?  I can answer for no one but me and I know that there are times that I think I am too busy to take time out for prayer.

How stupid is that?  Praise God that He is not too busy for me.  He is there when I need to eat and He makes sure I have clothes.  He makes sure the bills are paid.  He makes sure I have a roof over my head.  He gives all kinds of good things that are too numerous to mention.  He always has time for me so why do I find it so hard to take some time for Him?  Could it be that I am consumed ever so slightly with that demon called pride.  It takes humility to pray.  You have to be able to take the first step and say I can’t, I need help.

I hear you saying, “But Cathy, I can do all things through Him who gives me strength.”  Yes you can and so can I.  The key to this verse, that we so often forget, is “through Him”.  Are we really going through Him when we jump out of bed, rush around and get ready for work or whatever?  Then we rush out the door to do what is needed for the day.  When we come home we have to get supper and eat.  Then it is time to “relax” in front of the TV.  At this point it is time for bed so we can sleep, get up, and do the whole thing over tomorrow.  Please tell me where He is in all that.  “Cathy,” you say, “don’t you know we are to pray without ceasing?’  “I pray all day.”  I say to you that, “Lord help me”, or “Lord help this person or that one”, is not the kind of prayer Jesus said nor should it be the kind we settle for.

Jesus took time early every morning to get with the Father and really talk with Him.  Jesus gained strength and knowledge of God’s will for His life through these morning meetings.  Should we do any less?  I ask you, if it was necessary for our Lord to seek the Father, how much more so for us to seek His face?

If every man, woman and child in America, who professed Jesus, would take 10 min. at 7:00pm CST this evening to stop whatever they are doing and pray for our country, what kind of miracle would God do?  I’m just wondering.  Remember the day of Pentecost when there were only 120 men waiting to see what God would do?  Look how He showed up then, how much more so if we all did.  They were all on one accord waiting for the Lord.  If the body of Christ could just get on one accord…

OUR FATHER WHO ART IN HEAVEN

Published by cathycouey under Prayer Edit This

(Matthew 6:9 KJVR)  After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

(2Chronicles 7:13-15 KJVR)  If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people;  If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.  Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place.

God is speaking to us.  He wants us to talk to Him.  We are “One Nation Under God” or are we?  It would seem we have forgotten where we came from and how God brought us from affliction into a promised land filled with milk and honey.  “The Land Of The Free.”  What happened?  I know that our constitution guarantees us certain freedoms.  I believe that if the “founding Fathers” could see what we have done with those freedoms they would be appalled.  Are all men created equal or do we discriminate based on race and creed.  How about the discrimination that takes place in our churches.  Christ died that we would be one body yet we are not one body.  There are countless denominations in the body.  Our own body could not function under these circumstances.  Neither can the “body of Christ”.  We must come together as “one body” and “one nation”.  “United we stand, divided we fall”.  Whoever is elected we have the duty to honor and respect the one in authority over us.  We need to pray before the election.

(Matthew 6:10 KJVR)  Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.  When we pray as god is asking us to then we must believe that His will is done and act accordingly.

(Romans 13:1-2 KJVR)  Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.  Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.  (1Peter 2:13-17 KJVR)  Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.  For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:  As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.  Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.

This says we are honor the king that is our president and that we are to honor all men that includes those you do not agree with.  You do not have to agree with someone in order to respect them.  It also says to love the brotherhood.  Who is the brotherhood?  That is where we will pick up in our Bible study tomorrow unless God says otherwise.  This is His site and I will subject to His leading.

For today just pray for the will of the Father to be done on earth just as it is in heaven.

PRAY NOW BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE!!!!

Published by cathycouey under Prayer Edit This

PRAY!  PRAY!  PRAY?  OK I can not stress enough the importance of prayer in the coming days.  Pray for your country, we are in transition and we need Gods will now more than ever.  Pray for your leaders, that they would succumb to the will of the Lord in their lives so they can lead accordingly.  Pray for your ministers, those you guide you spiritually.  Anyone who uplifts your spirit in anyway is under attack from the enemy especially right now.  That includes you and me.  Pray for your neighbor, they are going through a rough spot in their life right now.  People do not usually ask for prayer but that does not mean they do not need it.  No one is immune to the power of prayer.  God is waiting to perform miracles.  All we have to do is ask.

Mat 7:7  Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: And again in James it says:Jas 1:5  If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

Now is the time to seek the Lord.  Do not delay, Pray today.  This is your life and it is time to put it in the Lords hands and leave it there.  This is the most urgent message I have ever received from the Lord so please head His words.  Join me in prayer over the coming days.  Make a new commitment to the Lord.  Remember
Nineveh and how they turned when the Lord spoke.  Turn from your mundane ordinary prayers and get serious with God because He is serious right now.

Turn up the volume on your prayers.  Not the loudness but the amount.  Get on your knees, your face, whatever but humble yourselves and pray.
