GOD IN THE NEWS THIS WEEK??????

Published by cathycouey at 7:24 am under The Non - View Edit This

Verse of the Day

Luke 21:28 (NKJV)  Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”

President Bush

President Bush says he prays in the Oval Office and his faith has changed his life but he can’t say if God chose him to be president, ABC News reports.

“I just, I can’t go there,” Bush said in an interview that aired Dec. 8 on “Nightline.” “I’m not that confident in knowing, you know, the Almighty, to be able to say, ‘Yeah, God wanted me of all the other people.’ “

Well, if you wondered before now you know.  NO! I do not agree with his beliefs but this is not about my beliefs.  I am simply reporting God in the news this week.

Nebraska State Sen. Ernie Chambers Lawsuit Against God Update

This is crazy not to mention sacrilegious.  We will start from the beginning.  Seems Sen. Ernie chambers was a bit upset at the way people just sued for any old reason at all.  In an attempt to show the ignorance of frivolous lawsuits he filed one of his own.  The Nebraska state Sen.  filed a lawsuit against God in Douglas County District Court on Sept. 14, 2007 stating that god was committing acts of terrorism by way of natural disasters.  The Sen. wanted the court to issue an injunction demanding God to cease and desist all terrorist activities.  The district court, in an equally unrealistic move, dismissed the case claiming the suit can’t proceed because God can’t be served a summons. This occurred in Oct. of this year.  From what I can tell the Sen plans to appeal which is even crazier.  So what everyone wants to know is did Sen. chambers get re-elected this year.  The answer is

No.  He was inelligable to run because of term limits.

Mr. Chambers is an agnostic.  I for one will pray that God will forgive him and not hold this blasphemy against him.  You know, with what we have learned about God’s love for every human this week, that God will forgive even this.

YMCA leader challenges Christians to live up to their values

The Secretary General of the World Alliance of YMCAs is calling on Christians to re-engage with the social challenges Jesus Christ calls them to confront.

“We will soon be celebrating Christmas,” wrote Dr Bart Shaha in a seasonal message to YMCA supporters around the world.

Dr. Shaha is asking Christians to help meet the needs of the suffering masses in light of the world wide economic crisis.  He is appealing to our sensitivity at this special time of year.

So is he saying we are not a Christian if we do not give to him?  I do not know enough about this organization to determine what they are about.  Friends beware of these sorts of appeals and check with God before giving to any one.  I know that many of these appeal to our human emotions and we know that our “heart is deceitfully wicked above all things”.  The Holy Spirit will lead and guide you into all truth.  That is God’s money in your pocket so you would certainly want to ask Him who to give it to.

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord’ will enter the kingdom of heaven.”

MEMORY VERSE FOR 12/07/08 -12/13/08

PSALM 139:14  I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.

See you tomorrow for the week in review.

    Dear Joh,
I’m sorry that you feel this way. I was simply reporting the facts that I found during my search for God in the news this week. While I appreciate you taking the time to comment I believe that your comment is only your opinion of me and has nothing to do with the facts that are stated in this post.

Facts and opinions are not the same thing and we must all learn to recognize the difference. You must never allow someone elses opinion of you stop you from working for the Lord. In the end when you stand before God the only opinion that will matter is God’s.
I am not attempting to do anything other than honor God here.

Joh, thank you for giving me this opportunity to encourage others in their walk with the Lord.
