SAMSON AND DELILAH (KEEPING YOUR SECRET STRENGTH)
Have you read the story of Samson and Delilah? Do you realize that he gave his secret strength away to the enemy without a fight? In the story, God gave Samson unbelievable strength and then He gave Samson the secret to keeping that strength. The secret to Samson’s strength was in his hair. As long as he never cut his hair he would maintain his strength. This sounds simple enough doesn’t it? The problem was that Samson could not keep his mouth shut. He fell in love with Delilah. She kept at him to tell her the secret to his great strength. Now before you go blaming her for everything listen to the rest of the story. See , she tried several times to get him to disclose the secret and he would give her false information. each time he told her something she would try it and when it failed she would accuse him of not loving her enough to trust her. Now, let me ask you this, how is he supposed to trust this woman who is trying to do him harm? She obviously does not have his best interest in mind as she plots with others to destroy him. Still, love is blind and he finally gives in and divulges the secret to his strength. As soon as he does she cuts his hair off and hands him over to the enemy. She has taken his strength? No! He gave it to her willingly.
Many times God gives us special gifts and tells us not to give away our secret to others or we will loose our gift. What do you mean? When we tell others our secrets we are giving them power over us, the power to destroy us. Why would you want to share your secret with others who only mean to harm you? When God gives you some special talent He does not want you to give it away or destroy it. He intends to use that special talent for His purpose.
You see the real truth behind the story is that Satan was out to destroy what God had done. Satan used the beautiful Delilah to accomplish his purpose. She did not even realize who was using her. Once Satan, the enemy of our soul, knows how to get to us he will do everything in his power to destroy us. The secret needs to be kept hidden from him if we are to maintain what God expects from us. Well after all that you probably would like to know what I am trying to say.
Keep your secrets to yourself so that they will not be used by others to destroy you. Do not be like Samson who divulged his secret even after he knew that Delilah was trying to destroy him with it. Your strength does lie in the secret. Keep your secret and it will keep you. i tell you these things because I was almost destroyed in the same way as Samson. Some things are just for you to know.
Now, encouragement for our prayer request.
Philippians 4:19 (NKJV)
19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
