Ephesians Bible Study

Published by cathycouey at 11:28 am under Religion Edit This

The Week in Review:

It has been an exciting week.  I learned so much yesterday about patience and persistence.  More about that in tomorrows postings so be sure to check back.  I promise it will be great.  Well we made it through Ephesians chapter 1.  I thought today would be a good day for review and reflection.  So what have we learned and how do we apply it to our lives today?

  1. God loves you.  That is the greatest news I’ve heard in a long time.  I’m not always so loveable, you know.  If God loves me then I can’t be all bad,  not that I think I’m great because I’m not however, like Paul says: Philippians 3:13  Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, Now if I could just remember that every second of every day.

  1. Salvation and Redemption.  Jesus died that you could live.  Not just live but really, really live.  You know, live forever with Him and also live life to the fullest right here right now. John 10:10  The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.  What else can I add to that?  Get out there and start enjoying everyday life.  Do not allow Satan to steal your joy.  Philippians 4:4  Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.

  1. Prayer.  We learned a little about how to pray for others as we studied the first of 2 prayers in the book of Ephesians.  We learned how to intensify our prayers and how to be more specific in our prayers.  We know that Paul said: 1Thessilonians 5:17  Pray without ceasing. And again in:  1Timothy 2:8  I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.   Now we know some of what to include in those prayers.

  1. Christ the Head.  We now have a better understanding of Christ being the Head of His church.  When we try to usurp His authority in our lives is when we run into problems.  Colossians 1:18  And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

  1. We are the Body.  We also have a better understanding of how we all work together as one body.  We will get into a study about one body in more detail in coming days.  For now remember that we are the body, not the Head.  We are to be in submission to the Head just as our own body is submission to our head.

So in conclusion we will take a day or two to digest these things so that we can incorporate them into our daily living.  I urge you to really meditate on God’s Word as we journey along together.  I love hearing from each of you so please leave your questions and comments.

See you later tomorrow.

I look forward to reading more about the one body thing and how we can work together as one body in Christ.

Thank you for reminding me to not let Satan steal my joy.
